Gun Control - Brazil12 dead in an elementary school shooting in Brazil
http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-ge ... .Shooting/ VS Brazil's highly restrictive gun control laws http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Brazil Even Wikipedia says Brazil's gun control laws on carrying outside one's residence are "severely restrictive". So, MSM, Mr Obummer, Ms Pelosi, et al tell me again about "gun control" stopping violent use of guns. I Love This Country! It's The Government That Scares The Hell Outta Me!
Re: Gun Control - Brazil
Also note this from the wiki: "Some 39,000 people died in 2003 due to gun-related injuries nationwide.[2] In 2004, the number was 36,000.[1] Although Brazil has 110 million fewer citizens than the United States, and more restrictive gun laws, there are 50% more gun deaths;[6] other sources indicate that homicide rates due to guns are approximately four times higher than the rate in the United States.[7] Brazil has the second largest arms industry in the Western Hemisphere.[7] Approximately 80 percent of the weapons manufactured in Brazil are exported, mostly to neighboring countries; many of these weapons are then smuggled back into Brazil.[7] Some firearms in Brazil come from police and military arsenals, having either been "stolen or sold by corrupt soldiers and officers."[7]" “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

Re: Gun Control - BrazilJust another senseless, tragic reminder of why Gun Free Zones are the most dangerous places in the world. No doubt that the government of Brazil will set in place even more restrictions on their residents to defend themselves from those in society that couldn't care less about gun laws.
But first, they will probably find some way to blame the U.S. for supplying guns to them in the first place. I think I hear Chuck "Where's the Camera?" Schumer about to call a press conference. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” — Edmund Burke
Re: Gun Control - BrazilHell he;s probably right now writing up some of that butt wipe he calls legislation to try restricting our rights even more... Chuckie needs to go live in one of those cesspools of humanity and stupidity to get a taste of the utopia crappola he wants to force on us.

Re: Gun Control - Brazil All good comments here, which reminded me to look for a current view from Austraila with all the anti-gun legislation there in the last many years - aimed, as in the US, at law abiding citizens who do not commit crimes. I recall that home invasions went up drastically after the government was successful in removing guns from most homes. Here is the concluding paragraph from an opinion piece in the Daily Caller (apparently by an Australian writer) - "Gun control is a myth, or rather a mountain of myths sustained by campaigning elites in secure buildings with armed bodyguards: the myth that if law-abiding citizens hand their guns over to the big government to burn, then we will enter a new peace; the myth that if we feel that we are gun controllers, then we are humanitarian citizens even when statistics undermine our self-praising image; and the myth that punishing thousands of farmers and sporting shooters, for the crimes of others, will bring healing. But we (meaning anti-gun Australians) were (and are) wrong." http://dailycaller.com/2011/01/19/ameri ... z1Ix3E7454 Do others see the commonality in gun control around the world - "campaigning elites in secure buildings with armed bodyguards"? Sound familiar? I am convinced that the campaigning elites are largely self serving cliques, dictators, socialist or socialist-leaners (many are lawyers, professional politicians, journalists, writers and entertainers) who look down on average people and rely on government control of most everything to implement their 'agenda' without reducing their income or preventing them from being protected. It's gets tiring for this old man to stand very long on the soapbox, so I'll shut up for now. Oleman ![]() I Love This Country! It's The Government That Scares The Hell Outta Me!

Re: Gun Control - BrazilThe flip side of Australia is New Zealand. At one point I was e-mailing a member of the Pro-gun group in NZ...
They go thru background checks pretty stringently, but they get a permit that allows them to own MSSA (Military Styled Semi-Autos) without any restrictions. Fully Auto is restricted... and certain ammo in certain areas are restricted, but otherwise? You can crawl around pretty freely. Not as free as WE have, but better than the average area.
Re: Gun Control - Brazil
I don't think so.......

I really don't know. This is what the wiki says.
