1. Nova Armament Grand Opening Saturday 10AM

Nova Armament in Herndon, VA is opening on Saturday. Several VGOF'ers are planning to be there if the weather holds out. The VGOF Meet and Greet is scheduled for 11am followed by lunch at a local establishment.

Street Address is: 795 Center Street #4A Herndon, VA 20170.

There is plenty of parking behind the store, and there is some street parking as well.

There's a nice Indian Restaurant called Aoga (or something like that) next to Zefirelli's, there's also a Greek place with a sports bar that's off of Lynn Street, there's also a nice Mexican place called the Tortilla Factory in the Bestway Shopping Center. Herndon has a nice selection of restaurants.

They will have coffee provided by the fine folks of Ashland Coffee and Tea, as well as some donuts.

2. VA General Assembly Defeats Anti-Gun Bill

As reported by NRA-ILA:
On Tuesday, January 26 the Virginia Senate Local Government Committee defeated Senate Bill 268 by a vote of 9 to 6.

Sponsored by State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple (D-31), SB268 would have gutted Virginia's preemption law by allowing local governments to ban the possession of firearms on property owned or leased by the locality. It would have also applied to access roads and parking areas for those facilities.

If passed, law-abiding gun owners from all over the Commonwealth would have been caught in a patchwork of conflicting local ordinances where possession of a firearm may be legal in Rockingham, Henrico or Fairfax but prohibited in Virginia Beach, Norfolk or Arlington. SB268’s defeat will protect Virginia's preemption law and ensure that gun owners from every corner of the Commonwealth are treated equally under the law.

I don't know why you're not getting emails from the board. We can talk about that offline and see if we can work it out.

Rick: Thanks for all you do here. I love this board and send way too much time here (according to some family members that will remain nameless). I have not received any news letter from you (and I have checked my spam filter). I do get PM notifications though. I have a personal domain but its hooked to a Yahoo account so see if the others having issues are also using Yahoo accounts. Maybe there is a commonality.

hmm.. yahoo.com seems to be a common theme. Working that issue now. Also, hotmail.com and gmail.com...will work on those as well.

You know I have gmail and I didn't get it either...

I'm set to receive emails, and got the "Happy New Year" one...

Mayhaps I deleted it on my phone accidentally.

I haven't received it either--I have Shentel. Pm's and store e-mails have alwalys come through without a problem.
