We are nearing our 50,000th post here at VaGunForum.net and to mark this occasion, I will be giving away a free Leatherman "Freestyle" multi-tool to the person who posts the 50,000th post!

We have a post count at the bottom of the main forum page, but it's a little off due to threads that have been deleted and such. So, the post count at the bottom of the page currently says there are 48,448 posts. Actually, there are 49,074 posts (this is the 49,075th post).

So - keep checking back over the next few days - we usually average around 100 posts per day - and I'm sure that this will make things move a long a little faster over the coming days, so stay vigilant my friends!

looks like something off the Transformers movie

Couple of cool things about it:

- 420HC Stainless Steel body
- You can use the knife without opening the pliers. Knife comes straight out.

Just curious, but why do deleted posts count towards the total? Database?

Because each time a post is added, it includes a value that is an "auto-increment" as its post number. The post count at the bottom of the index page just counts the number of records in the "posts" table. So, if there were 4 posts and post number 3 was removed, then we would be on post 5 for the next post, but it would only be the fourth post in the database.

I guess that's about as clear as mud

Ya, I figured it was something like that. The database is creating unique records and it is easier to determine the winner if you just look for record 50,000 vice looking for an offset you have to determine.
